Protesters march towards Rinas Airport, blocking roads and creating traffic difficulties
The protest march is still ongoing, while thousands of citizens have crossed the Rinas overpass and are now moving on foot towards Rinas International Airport, causing significant difficulties in vehicle traffic.
After the rally in front of the Prime Minister's Office and the march through some of the capital's main streets, the protest moved to the Tirana-Durres highway, where for hours one side of the traffic was blocked by the crowd of protesters.
The marchers have now continued their route towards the airport, walking in groups along the road and stopping from time to time. At some points they have sat on the asphalt, blocking the movement of vehicles and creating long lines of vehicles.
Movement towards Rinas Airport has been significantly hampered, with many drivers forced to wait in traffic due to the passing of protesters. Numerous police forces are on the ground, monitoring the situation and trying to manage traffic.
Throughout the march, chants against the government and the political class continued. "Rama resign," "Your end has come," "Rama in prison, Berisha in prison," and "Revolution" were some of the slogans that accompanied the protest along the route.
It is not yet known what the final destination of the march will be or whether the protesters intend to reach the premises near the airport. However, the column of citizens continues to move towards Rinas, while the situation on the ground remains dynamic and has a direct impact on road traffic.
