Greek authorities have imposed the security measure "prison arrest" on Ilir Shtufi, the businessman wanted by SPAK.
Greek media report that the 53-year-old arrested in Thessaloniki will remain in custody until Albanian authorities present the documentation for his extradition to Albania. According to Greek media, he is wanted by Albanian authorities for participation in a criminal organization and money laundering, which are suspected of originating, among other things, from drug trafficking cases.
The competent Judicial Council is expected to decide on the request for his extradition to Albania in the near future, Greek media reported.
The 53-year-old was escorted to the Thessaloniki Appeals Prosecutor's Office this morning for the execution of the International Red Notice in force against him by the Albanian authorities, which are seeking his arrest and extradition for the above criminal offenses that he is suspected of having committed in Tirana.
Before the willing prosecutor, the 53-year-old stated that he did not consent to his extradition, while reportedly denying the charges, claiming that he was "involved" in the case without having any participation.
He was previously arrested by police officers of the Northern Greece Organized Crime Sub-Directorate, following information transmitted through international police cooperation channels and INTERPOL, as announced by the Greek Police.
According to Greek media, the 53-year-old is suspected of having entered Greece in the early hours of last Friday from a border station in Northern Greece, and was found that same day in a hotel in Thessaloniki.
