President Donald Trump has stated that the signing of the memorandum with Iran is still on track to take place today, despite Israel's latest attack on Beirut.
"We were supposed to sign the deal this morning, but the Israeli attack on Beirut delayed it. I think the signing will happen later today, in a few hours. But the Israeli attack shook things up ," Trump told Axios reporter and CNN political and global affairs analyst Barak Ravid on Sunday.
Trump expressed his disagreement with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's decision to attack Beirut. The president posted earlier today on Truth Social that the attack on Beirut should not have happened with a memorandum of understanding approaching.
"They called me and said, 'Sir, Israel is attacking Beirut, an hour before we signed the deal. I couldn't believe it was happening. It's so bad,'" Trump told Ravid, the journalist told Israel's Channel 12.
Trump also told Ravid that he had told Netanyahu that he was very "displeased."
