A dead body was found this afternoon in the Shkumbin River by a fisherman. The fisherman notified the police, who have cordoned off the area, while the body is located in the area near the former Metalurgjiku, a territory difficult to reach and with limited access.
Immediately after the announcement, numerous police forces arrived at the scene and surrounded the perimeter, prohibiting citizens from entering the area to ensure safety and preserve evidence.
To remove the body from the river, the assistance of the Elbasan divers and fire service was requested, who are in action to enable the removal and transportation of the body to the regional hospital morgue.
Pending the completion of the forensic examination, there is no information yet on the identity, age or gender of the victim. Police are in the initial phase of the investigation and are urging citizens with information about any missing persons to contact the relevant structures immediately.
