The fire situation in Fier has worsened, as the flames have spread rapidly and are threatening the residential area. Due to the danger, the evacuation of residents has begun, while firefighters, the State Police, residents of the area and a helicopter are operating on the ground. Authorities continue their efforts to isolate the source and call on citizens to avoid movement in the affected area.
The summer fires have marked the first incidents of this season. The situation from the fire that broke out today in the Drizë neighborhood area, near the former Azotik in Fier, has deteriorated significantly, as the flames have spread rapidly, favored by strong winds, and are approaching the residential area.
Due to the fire's advance towards the homes, residents have been alarmed, while authorities have begun evacuating them as a preventive measure to ensure safety.
Residents say they were scared when they saw the fire.
"A fire like this has never happened before. We were very scared, it was a big fire," said a resident of the area.
"We are scared, we don't know what to do, it is approaching the houses. We were at home, eating bread when we came out and saw the fire," said another resident.
The flames have also advanced near the road connecting Qafë e Koshovicës with Kreshpani, endangering a water tank and a bar located on the edge of this road axis.
Due to the worsening situation, air intervention has been requested. A helicopter has arrived in the area and has begun the operation to extinguish the flames, while intensive efforts by firefighting forces continue from the ground.
10 fire engines, numerous State Police forces, FNSH forces, "Eagle" units, as well as other emergency structures have been engaged in the operation to extinguish the flames.
Dozens of residents of the area have also been engaged in isolating the fire and preventing the flames from spreading further.
Authorities are calling on citizens to avoid movement in the affected area and to clear the way for emergency vehicles, while the operation to bring the fire under control continues.
