A serious incident occurred today in the coastal area of Gjipe, where a tourist was seriously injured by the propellers of a speedboat that was sailing outside the security cordon.
A helicopter was urgently called to the scene to transport the 46-year-old from Germany to the Trauma Hospital in Tirana, to receive more advanced medical treatment.
Meanwhile, it is learned that the incident occurred at around 1:40 p.m., where 27-year-old Krenar Velo, a resident of Orikum, driving a dinghy with regular documentation, outside the safety zone, accidentally damaged 46-year-old German DS, who was diving near the floating vehicle.
The Border Police in Dhërmi intervened immediately, providing first aid to the injured person and then organizing his transportation to the hospital. Meanwhile, the driver of the raft was escorted to the Dhërmi Police Station for questioning, along with several eyewitnesses to the incident.
"Himarë/Preliminary information/ Today, at around 13:40, on Gjipesë beach, it is suspected that citizen KV, 27 years old, resident of Orikum, driving a rubber dinghy with regular documentation, outside the safety zone and at a considerable distance from the plugs that limit the swimming area, damaged, while he was diving near the dinghy, citizen DS, 46 years old, resident of Germany.
The Border Police Services of SPK Dhërmi, immediately after receiving the notification, intervened by providing first aid to the injured person and then organized his immediate transportation to the hospital for medical assistance.
Also, the Police services accompanied the driver of the vessel, citizen KV, to the Police Station.

The injured man's condition appears serious and he is expected to arrive at the Trauma Hospital any moment.
Police and the investigation team are at the scene and are working to clarify the full circumstances of the accident.
However, this is a recurring situation and a major concern for safety on our beaches. The authorities seem to be sleeping, with this situation recurring every year with tourists and vacationers being killed or injured by motor vehicles circulating on the coast without checkpoints.
The last case was the murder of the 7-year-old daughter of the Avdia family in Himara by a speedboat driven by an Albanian State police officer, or more precisely by the Police Commissioner in Elbasan, Arjan Tase.
