A 35-year-old man has been arrested in Kurbin after fatally hitting a 59-year-old man a few days ago. The accident occurred on May 29 on the "Patoku-Laç Overpass" road and he then fled the scene.
The 35-year-old was arrested by the Special Operations Forces at the Criminal Police Department. The Lezha court had issued a security measure of "Arrest in prison" against him, for the criminal offenses of "Violation of traffic rules" and "Leaving the scene of an accident."
A 23-year-old man was also arrested after giving a false statement to a judicial police officer, claiming that he was the one driving the vehicle.
"This citizen was declared wanted, after on 29.05.2025, on the "Patoku-Laç Overpass" road axis, he caused an accident resulting in the death of citizen FH, 59 years old, resident of Kurbin, and after the accident he left the scene.
The 35-year-old was detained pursuant to the decision of the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Lezha, which has imposed the security measure "Arrest in prison", for the criminal offenses "Violation of road traffic rules" and "Leaving the scene of an accident".
Also, following the investigations, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, citizen AB, 23 years old, was arrested in flagrante delicto for the criminal offenses of "False declaration before a judicial police officer" and "Acts that impede the discovery of the truth".
His arrest was made after, during the procedural actions, he gave a false statement to the judicial police officer, claiming that he was the driver of the vehicle that caused the accident, while the investigative acts proved that the driver of the vehicle was citizen TN. The procedural materials in charge of both citizens were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Lezha, for further actions," the police announced.
