Former Socialist Party MP Marjana Koçeku has revealed for the first time that she communicated with Prime Minister Edi Rama only three days after she made public her decision to leave the Socialist Party parliamentary group and continue her mandate as an independent MP.

According to her, the choice not to immediately communicate with the head of government was deliberate, so that her decision would not be influenced by anyone.

She said she does not want to make public the full content of the conversations, as she considers them private, but revealed that Rama had warned her that after this decision she would be left alone.

"I communicated with Prime Minister Rama three days after I made the decision. This was a personal decision, so that there would be no room for influence on what I had decided to do and say. Only after three days did I respond to a series of phone calls and messages from him.

"These are private conversations and I prefer to remain correct. He warned me that I would be left alone and that no one would trust me after this act, not even my people in the mountains where I come from. I have confirmed and continue to confirm to all those who believe in the prime minister that I will not be left alone. I am used to being independent, it is part of my character and I will not back down. There is no going back on this decision ," Koçeku declared on Euronews.
