
Using a phone while driving, exceeding the speed limit, or making wrong overtaking moves continue to be the most frequent violations committed by Albanian drivers.
In the latest report of the Traffic Police Directorate, it is learned that over 3,000 fines were imposed last week alone, for various administrative violations.
In most cases, the police use drones to remotely capture violations by drivers who do not respect traffic rules.
It is learned that in just one week, 765 fines were imposed for wrongful overtaking; 423 fines for speeding, with the sanction of suspension of the driving license and deduction of points from the driving license; 876 fines for not wearing a seat belt; 1,121 fines for using a mobile phone while driving; and 128 fines for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Traffic Police Directorate/ Intensive checks with drones and Poliscan radars, for road safety. During the past week, the Operational Unit for Road Safety has conducted increased checks on national axes, using drones and Poliscan, to monitor and punish violators of traffic rules, who endanger lives on the road.
2 drones and 3 Poliscan radars were used to identify in real time dangerous driving behaviors, as well as to measure speed in segments with a high risk of accidents.
Focus of checks during the week:
Exceeding the speed limit;
Wrong overtaking;
Using a mobile phone while driving;
Not wearing a seat belt;
Prevention of driving under the influence of alcohol or while intoxicated.
Dozens of serious violations were found, for which administrative measures were taken, including suspensions of driving licenses, in accordance with the Road Code. Specifically: 765 administrative measures for wrongful overtaking; 423 administrative measures for speeding, with the sanction of suspension of the driving license and deduction of points from the driving license; 876 administrative measures for failure to fasten the seat belt; 1,121 administrative measures for using a mobile phone while driving; 128 measures for driving under the influence of alcohol.
The Traffic Police will continue intensive field checks, using technological tools, with the aim of preventing accidents and increasing safety for all road users.
