By order of SPAK, a former officer of the Republic Guard was arrested today, charged with "Exercising illegal influence over persons exercising public functions." The operation to arrest the former guard was carried out by the Police Supervision Agency.
Euronews Albania has uncovered new details from the file that led to the imprisonment of the former guard with the rank of Commissioner.
According to proactive investigations lasting several weeks, guard Zef Mali, now under the "prison arrest" measure, and citizen KD, wanted under the "compulsory appearance" security measure, have promised that in exchange for 20 thousand euros they would influence officials and public institutions to expedite and enable the extradition of an Albanian convict from a European Union country.
Following the complaint filed by the citizen, who was promised the extradition of her relative in exchange for 20 thousand euros, proactive investigations were conducted.
However, up to this stage of the investigation, it appears that no procedure or practice has been carried out for the convicted person in question.
