A judge at the Juvenile Court in Bologna has sentenced the perpetrator of the murder of 13-year-old Albanian Aurora Tila to 17 years in prison.
It concerns a 16-year-old boy, who is suspected of having had a relationship with the Albanian minor. The incident occurred on October 25, 2024, and Tila lost her life after falling from the seventh-floor balcony of the building where she lived.
The prosecutor had requested a sentence of 20 years and 8 months, while the defense had requested acquittal.
At the time, it was suspected that the victim had accidentally fallen from a height, but investigations revealed the involvement of the 16-year-old.
The injuries to the back of the skull revealed that she fell backwards, perhaps as a result of a push, rather than being thrown. This was the hypothesis of forensic pathologist Giovanni Ceçhetto, from the Institute of Forensic Medicine of the University of Pavia, presented in the conclusions of the autopsy performed on the girl.
The scenario presented matches that described in the detention order of the Bologna Juvenile Court against Aurora's ex-boyfriend, who was arrested on charges of intentional murder. At the time, the alleged perpetrator, only 15 years old, denied having pushed the 13-year-old.
Aurora, according to the autopsy, had multiple fractures, all related to the fall from a height. But the fatal ones would have been the head injuries, which caused instant death.
Another key point of the examination focused on the injuries found on the girl's hands, especially her wrists.
The Carabinieri of the Piacenza investigative unit, entrusted with the investigation, have collected the testimonies of three people who claim to have seen or heard what happened between Aurora and her ex-boyfriend on the terrace.
Two of them claim to have witnessed the scene, albeit from a distance. A third says he heard the girl's desperate screams.
According to their accounts, Aurora was seen hanging from the railing while the boy punched her hands.
