A 26-year-old man who had been wanted for five years as part of an illegal trafficking activity involving a group of 19 clandestine people from third countries to the EU area for profit, was arrested today by Tirana Police.
According to the police, the young man was convicted in absentia by the court. He is accused of having transported 19 immigrants to Tirana in 2020, in collaboration with two other people, who intended to illegally travel to EU countries.
"This citizen has been sentenced by the Court of Appeal to 3 years and 4 months in prison, for the criminal offense of "aiding illegal border crossing". His location was made "as a result of the immediate administration of information obtained through operational channels". The procedural materials of the operation have been referred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for further legal action", the police announced.
