New details regarding the arrest of two Chinese citizens a few days ago in Tirana, accused of computer fraud and theft of Albanian data.
It is learned that Cybercrime has prevented the theft of data of over 5 thousand Albanians. According to sources, the estimated amount that was at risk of being stolen through the fraudulent scheme of the Chinese in the falsification of the Albanian Post website is around 5 billion lek, or 50 million euros, from the bank accounts of Albanians.
The two arrested Chinese nationals, Cunfeng Fan, 51, and Haike Yan, 45, arrived in Tirana a week ago to continue their criminal activity. They stayed at a hotel very close to the center of the capital, where dozens of material items important to the investigation were found.
The two Chinese had come to our country to build infrastructure and then withdraw money from bank accounts abroad.
Cybercrime has tracked down the Chinese group through continuous monitoring of the "darkweb" and open sources on the internet, which after being verified have led to their identification. It is suspected that other people are involved in this scheme, for whom further investigations have been launched.
