Road and crime deaths have marked a drastic reduction compared to the first quarter of last year...
Road deaths and deaths from crime account for over half of unnatural deaths in Albania. Their prevention is a primary task of the State Police. The other half of unnatural deaths are dominated by suicides, deaths at work, poisonings, etc. Their prevention is a primary task of other state bodies.
As illustrated in the table below, road and crime deaths have marked a drastic reduction compared to the first quarter of last year: road deaths have been reduced by 15.4% and crime deaths by 50%, for a total reduction of 21%.

But the above figures do not give us a complete picture. Because while road deaths have decreased, the number of vehicles with Albanian license plates has increased by about 40 thousand within a year (not counting the number of vehicles with foreign license plates that are imported into Albania in large quantities).
If we calculate the road mortality index (road deaths per 100 thousand vehicles with Albanian license plates), it turns out that road mortality has decreased by almost 1/5 within a year (see the graph below).

If pedestrian/cyclist/motorcyclist deaths (which currently account for over half of all road deaths in Albania) were comparable in percentage to those of the EU, we would today have a road mortality index equal to the European average!
Mortality from crime has been halved, compared to 2025. See the graph below for the crime mortality index (deaths from crime per 1 million inhabitants).

If deaths from crime within the family (which constitute a major problem in Albania) were comparable in percentage to those in the EU, we would today have a crime mortality index somewhere close to the European average!
On the occasion of the start of work of a new Director of the State Police, QENDRA AGENDA conducted an opinion poll on the security of citizens and the work of the State Police. The link to the questionnaire was distributed by completely random SMS. A total of 1192 adult residents from all over the country completed the questionnaire, thus achieving a sample with a statistical error margin of 2.8%, maximum. See the results of the poll below.
