Tensions between Israel and Hezbollah have escalated again after four Israeli soldiers were killed by an explosive device planted by the militant group in southern Lebanese territory.

Following the incident, Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir reacted with harsh statements, calling for a strong military response against Lebanon. In a post on the social network X, Ben Gvir stated that the attack on Israeli soldiers must be followed by a harsh counter-response.

"For every tear shed by an Israeli mother, a thousand Lebanese mothers must cry. All of Lebanon must burn," he wrote.

The far-right minister has previously called for the expansion of Israeli military operations in Lebanon, including strikes on the capital Beirut, despite international calls for restraint.

"With all due respect to the Americans, Israel must make it clear to the entire world that the blood of our sons and the security of our citizens are not sacrificial," he declared.

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich also spoke in the same vein, calling for an intensification of military operations.  "It is time to speak with fire. To open the gates of hell," Smotrich wrote in X.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces continue to control large areas of southern Lebanon. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has previously stated that Israel has no intention of withdrawing from the occupied territories, leaving open the possibility of a wider conflict in the region.
