From St. Peter's Square to Skanderbeg Square, ritual is replacing faith, while public demonstration is being used as identity rather than devotion...
The late Pope Francis, in one of his most significant speeches in St. Peter's Square in the Vatican, articulated a concern that shocked European public opinion. In front of a large crowd of believers, he emphasized that prayer should not become a demonstration of identity, but should remain a sincere act directed towards all humanity.
The message was clear: faith is not a flag to wave in front of others, but an intimate relationship with God.
This reflection of the Pope came at a time when Europe itself was facing a contradictory reality. On the one hand, the squares were filled with crowds at major religious events; on the other, the churches were empty every Sunday. Religious marriages, baptisms and traditional practices were falling sharply. The European media treated this phenomenon as a shift from lived faith to demonstrated faith.
According to analyses of the time, mass participation in activities like those at the Vatican was not always spontaneous. It was often linked to organizations from political structures and identity groups, mainly right-wing, that used religion as a mobilizing and identifying element.
Essentially, Pope Francis raised an alarm: when religion is used to show "who we are" in front of others, it risks losing its essence.
This reflection is not only European. It is also deeply current in Albania.
Footage from the Eid prayers in Skanderbeg Square has now become an annual media ritual. Thousands of people fill the square in the early hours of the morning, while photos and videos are widely shared on social networks and international media, as a symbol of the country's religious identity.
But beyond this visual spectacle, a fundamental question arises: are we dealing with a real practice of faith, or a collective demonstration of identity?
The data speaks differently from the image. An overwhelming part of Albanians are not regular practitioners of religion. Although a significant percentage identify as believers, about 80% do not regularly attend mosques, churches or other religious institutions. Even the mosques themselves, outside the month of Ramadan, often remain half empty.
This creates a visible gap between faith as belonging and faith as practice.
Mass participation on certain days is not necessarily imposed, but it often carries elements of a public demonstration. A kind of collective affirmation that, in a pluralistic and secular society like Albania, can be easily misinterpreted.
Especially in an international context where there are narratives that attempt to present Albania as a country far from Western identity, these images can be used for other, political or propagandistic purposes.
The danger lies not in the belief itself, but in the way it is presented.
Albania is a secular country, where every individual has the right to believe, not to believe, and to practice freely. But this freedom does not need spectacle. It does not need demonstration. It does not need identity competition.
Because the moment faith turns into an appearance, it loses its essence.
And this is exactly what Pope Francis warned about: hypocrisy is the greatest danger of modern religion.
In an era where social media amplifies every image and every message, the line between faith and propaganda becomes increasingly blurred. And when propaganda takes the place of devotion, religion no longer unites, but divides./ Pamphlet

Ne fakt Islami e inkurajon dijen dhe kerkimin e dijes, pra shkencen. Te merresh me besimin e tjetrit thjesht tregon per veten tende.

Kam njohur shum trima qe kanunin e kishin te shenjte dhe kishin qejf ta hanin nga mbrapa nese me kupton.
Kjo eshte nje praktike e ndjekur nga myslimanet qe shume kohe perpara se te shpikej media. Ne fund fare sipas besimit Zoti gjykon zemrat dhe jo cfare reklamohet. Artikulli dhe disa nga komentet nuk jane vecse islamofobi e kamufluar, gje qe e verej shpesh si ketu tek Pamfleti po ashtu edhe ne rrjete sociale. Sic thone gjermanet, sjellje tipike e dikujt qe nuk ka hobi.

Kete fjale boll e tundet si flamur , se nuk eshte flamur , dhe ne emer te saj po justifikoni padrejtesira ne emer te fese. Dhe ju qe gjykoni gjithkend ne emer te kesaj fjale kuptohet vetevetiu qe jeni Islamist ose i paguar per te perhapur tymnaje , pikerisht ne emer te kesaj fjale ose thjesht nuk e kuptoni c'po thoni. Asnje Fe tjeter nuk i ka shpetuar ketyre kritikave dhe asnje nuk eshte fshehur mbas mbrapashteses " Fobi" . Nese dua qe mos kthehem mbrapa me shekuj pas gjithe atyre perpjekjeve e skarificave te bera prej njerezeve te " pa fe" qe kane punuar me mish e shpirt per te zvilluar shkencen e bere gjera te medhaja per kohen e e atehershme qe "besimtaret e gjithe feve" i gezojne lirisht tani, kjo nuk me kthen ne "christianofob apo "islamofob", katolikofob apo cfare do " ...Fob" . Njerez fanatike te perkushtuar vetem ne fene e tyre nuk e kane cuar perpara njerezimin, eshte dashur ndarja e fese nga shteti qe te coje ne zhvillimin e njerezimit dhe te sjelle ekuilibra me te mire ku gjithkush te gjeje ate qe beson .

Pse të gjitha qelbesirat fete janë krijuar ne Azi, pse? Sepse e provuan t’i pushtonin Europianet e Bardhe dhe e pesuan keq nga Aleksandri Madh e tere Europianet e Bardhe. Si ka mundesi që Europa që provoi ne kurriz krimet, perdhunimet e shkaterrimin nga Aziatiket e të gjitha feve i ka qelbur qytetet me kisha, xhamia, faltore, sinagoga e lloj lloj qelbesirash!?Turp, poshtersi, korrupsion, imoralitet I ngritur ne sistem.

Pergjigjen e kemi, nuk merzitemi. Ja, ju i doni ata, por ata nuk ju duan ju dhe ju i besoni të gjithë librave (ndërsa ata jo). Kur ata ju takojnë, thonë: “Edhe ne besojmë” e, kur mbeten vetëm, nga mllefi ndaj jush, ata i kafshojnë majat e gishtave me dhëmbë. Thuaju: “Plasni me mllefin tuaj”. Vërtet, Allahu e di mirë ç’kanë në gjokset e tyre.

Kjo eshte shfaqje dhe dëshmi se sa eshte niveli i emancipimit ne Shqipëri. Kane mbetur aty, ne nivelin ku jane sot talebanet. Sepse shkollimi i morfillet dhe shoqëria ne pergjothesi eshye ende analfabete funksionale.
