There are times when politics does not need long analyses. A scene is enough. A sight. A symbol. And this time the symbol of Belgrade's political defeat is played out neither at the tables of Brussels, nor in dry diplomatic statements, but in a container.
Yes, that's exactly where Aleksandar Vučić ended up: in the dumpster. Not as the "invincible" leader who sold the Serbs the fairy tale that "Kosovo is Serbia," but as a tired propaganda merchant who went to explain to his people that defeat is, in fact, victory.
And that's where Albin Kurti comes in. With patience, stubbornness, and that cold style of his that unnerves Belgrade more than any patriotic slogan, Kurti managed to take Vučić where he never wanted to go: facing reality. Not that reality of Serbian state television, not that of imaginary maps, but the reality of the state of Kosovo that sets rules, issues laws, and requires documents, residence permits, and work permits.
So, what really happened?
What Belgrade has been postponing for years has happened: Serbs living, working or studying in Kosovo are being told bluntly that they can no longer behave as citizens of a ghost state. Kosovo no longer functions on Belgrade's myths, but on its own institutions. And when a state asks you for documents, it is not asking you about national emotions. It is telling you only one thing: I am here, I decide.
This is why Vučić’s container is not just a meeting place. It is the most accurate picture of his policy towards Kosovo. For years, the Serbian president built an entire industry of deception, where every withdrawal was presented as a victory, every concession as a diplomatic success, every humiliation as “keeping the peace”. The Serbian public has been sold for a decade the idea that Serbia is not moving a millimeter from Kosovo. In reality, Serbia has moved so far back that now its president is forced to go to the border and explain to Serbs why they need papers to live in “their land”.
This is the height of irony: Vučić is no longer defending the Serbian claim to Kosovo. He is managing his own political bankruptcy. He is acting as the administrator of a slow capitulation, packaging it as statesmanship. In short: he is selling defeat as stability, and submission as patriotism.
Meanwhile, Kurti, attacked for months as a "radical", "inflexible", "the man who brings tension", is emerging as the politician who imposed on Serbia what no one in Belgrade wanted to accept: Kosovo is no longer a rhetorical issue, it is a matter of sovereignty. Documents, stamps, institutions, permits. The victory of the state is so banal. And it is precisely this banality that destroys Serbian propaganda, because myths die not only from war, but also at the counters.
In this story, Vučić is not a victim of Albin Kurti. He is a victim of himself. Of the lie he has nurtured for years. Of the patriotic theater that is now no longer standing. Because there comes a moment when even the biggest deception collides with the counter. And the counter of Kosovo said to Belgrade: either with documents, or out!
This is why Vučić's appearance in the container has historical significance. Not because some epochal agreement was signed there, but because the slogan "Kosovo is Serbia" was once again buried there./ Pamphlet
