The head of the delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Julian Bulai, called on the representatives elected by the June 7 elections to engage in constructive dialogue and reach the necessary compromises for the functioning of the institutions.
"The delegation now calls on all elected representatives to engage in truly constructive dialogue, to reach the necessary compromises to swiftly elect a president and to advance the country's democratic processes," Bulai declared at the press conference.
He said that the citizens of Kosovo have given their verdict through their vote and now expect accountability from their elected officials.
"Kosovo voters have spoken clearly. They now expect their elected representatives to show decisive leadership, seek constructive compromises and move the country forward on its Euro-Atlantic path, putting an end to all cynical political games. Democracy requires compromise and coalition building, not victory with a 'winner-takes-all' logic," he said.
Bulai emphasized that the findings presented are preliminary and that the observation mission will continue to follow the remaining phases of the electoral process.
"Today is not the end of the process. We will continue to follow the counting of preferential and conditional votes, the certification of results, and post-election developments," he said.
According to him, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will continue to support Kosovo in strengthening electoral processes.
"The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, with the assistance of our office in Pristina, remains ready to assist Kosovo in further improving the electoral framework and strengthening the capacities of electoral stakeholders," declared Bulai.
