Atalanta have reached an agreement with Cagliari for the transfer of midfielder Gianluca Gaetano. According to reports, the deal has been closed for 12 million euros, while another 2 million euros will be gained through performance-related bonuses.
Gaetano's departure from Cagliari has brought Kristjan Asllani's name back into the spotlight. The Albanian national team midfielder is seen as one of the main alternatives to replace the Italian in the Sardinian team.
Initially, Atalanta were asking for 18 million euros for Gaetano's card, but negotiations between the parties were successfully concluded and the agreement was reached at a lower value. The player's medical examinations are expected to take place tomorrow, before the transfer is made official.
Meanwhile, Kristjan Asllani's future remains open. The Albanian midfielder is expected to leave Inter this summer, with the Nerazzurri awaiting the best offer. In addition to interest from Cagliari, Italian media have also mentioned clubs from Turkey and Saudi Arabia as possible destinations for the 23-year-old.
