Iranian officials reacted sharply to US President Donald Trump's threats to strike Kharg Island, a key hub for Iran's oil exports.
Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesman for the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee in the Iranian Parliament, published a defiant message on the social network X, addressing the US.
"Come, we are waiting for you and we promise you that no American soldier will return alive," he declared.
Meanwhile, Iran's former Foreign Minister, Ali Akbar Velayati, also reacted to recent developments, accusing Washington of increasing tensions in the region.
"Iran had previously warned that 'the region is not a place for political gambling by small nations'" and that it "stands with its finger on the trigger to clean up the region," the former minister said.
The statements come at a time of heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran, following Trump's threats of a possible attack on Kharg Island, a strategic point for the Iranian economy due to its role in oil exports.
