Vetevendosje remains the leading force in Kosovo, but the current result leaves it far from the majority needed to govern alone.
Former MP Ben Blushi has reacted with critical tones towards Albin Kurti and the results of the elections in Kosovo, suggesting that the leader of Vetëvendosje has emerged politically weakened by this process.
Through a brief reaction on social media, Blushi mocked Kurti's political ambitions, stating that the biggest loser is Kosovo.
" Albini had the government, he wanted the President, he lost both. What a blunder. The crisis continues. How bad for Kosovo ," writes Blushi.
The reaction comes at a time when preliminary results show that the Vetëvendosje Movement remains the leading political force in the country, but with a result significantly lower than that which would allow it to form a government alone.
According to data published by the Central Election Commission, with over 62 percent of votes counted in Pristina, Vetëvendosje leads with 49.95%, followed by the Democratic League of Kosovo with 24.48%, the Democratic Party of Kosovo with 18.07% and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo with 4.66%.
Meanwhile, at the national level, preliminary CEC results show Vetëvendosje as the leading force with 43.71% of the votes, or 273,716 votes. PDK is ranked second with 21.58%, while LDK is ranked third with 17.99%. The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo holds fourth place with 7.28%.
Although it remains the winner of the elections, Vetëvendosje appears to have failed to achieve the result that would provide it with a parliamentary majority on its own to form the next government. This is expected to open political negotiations and discussions about possible coalitions in the coming days.
