A professor at the Itis technical institute in Parma has become the protagonist of a video that has caused great debate in Italy, after he was involved in an incident with a group of teenagers near the school.
The footage, widely shared online, shows the teacher being raped by several students, while a colleague intervenes to protect him and neutralizes one of the young men.
Three students have been suspended for 30 days, but the 63-year-old professor has refused to press criminal charges against them.
" They kept me in the police station for two hours trying to convince me to report. They almost begged me to do it. But I have said it and I repeat it: no reporting ," he declared.
The professor, who has been teaching since 1985, insists that he does not consider the incident a genuine aggression.
" I have not suffered any harm. On the contrary, the fact that I do not report is an educational intervention. These boys have already understood on their own skin that wrong behavior brings consequences ," he said.
In the video, the teacher can be heard saying: "Are you crazy?", while being chased by several young people near the park in front of the school.
According to him, the conflict began after he saw a student kicking a can at a parked car and reprimanded him for his behavior. Later in the day, the young man returned with some friends and the situation escalated into an argument and physical tension.
"It's the behavior of a 16-year-old boy with confused ideas and not very smart," the professor commented.
The teacher also criticized the Italian Minister of Education, Giuseppe Valditara, who reacted strongly after the video was released, condemning violence against teachers.
"His words are those of an incompetent person," the professor declared, recalling the minister's previous statements on the "role of humiliation" in educating students.
