Tehran unveils draft agreement with US, UN included

Iranian state media reported that Tehran and Washington have prepared an initial draft for a memorandum of understanding aimed at reducing military tensions and restoring commercial navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Iranian state television, the draft stipulates that Iran will restore trade traffic in the Strait of Hormuz to pre-conflict levels within 30 days. In exchange, the United States would withdraw military forces from areas near Iran and lift the naval blockade of Iranian ports.

The Strait of Hormuz is considered one of the most strategic points of global trade, as a large part of the world's oil and gas exports pass through it. Any development in this maritime corridor directly affects international energy markets and regional security.

According to the draft, the movement of commercial ships will be managed in cooperation with Oman, while military ships are not included in the agreement. The document is called the “Islamabad Memorandum” and provides for a final agreement to be reached within 60 days. If this happens, the text is intended to be submitted to the UN Security Council for approval as a binding resolution.

So far, there has been no official confirmation from the US administration on the existence or content of the draft published by Iranian media.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump reacted harshly to the US media and the opposition regarding developments in Iran. In a post on the “Truth Social” platform, Trump stated that even if Iran were to surrender completely, the US media would present the situation as a victory for Tehran.

"The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, CNN and other fake news outlets would write that Iran has won a major victory over the United States," Trump wrote, accusing Democrats and the media of, according to him, "completely losing control." / Pamphlet
