The famous writer of the animated series The Simpsons, Dan Greaney, has announced that he will run for president of the United States in the 2028 elections.

Greaney, known for his contribution to several episodes of the series that have gained fame for "predictions" of real events, including the presidency of Donald Trump, made the statement via a video on Instagram.

One of the most popular episodes he worked on is "Bart To The Future", which presents a future version of the USA with Lisa Simpson as president and mentions a budget crisis inherited by a president named Trump, an element that was later interpreted by the public as a "prediction" of political reality.

In his video, Greaney first appeared dressed as a magician, calling himself a "self-proclaimed prophet," before criticizing the American political elite and officially announcing his entry into the presidential race.

He declared that the US should return to the principles of "democracy and accountability for all," and at the end appeared dressed in a suit, saying: "I can be a politician. I'm running for president. America for all."

Since its debut in 1989, the animated series "The Simpsons" has become a cultural phenomenon not only for its satirical humor, but also for the numerous instances when its episodes seem to have "predicted" real-world events years before they happened.

Many of these "predictions" have gone viral on social media and have fueled theories that the series has managed to predict political, technological and social developments. However, the series' creators have repeatedly stated that most of the similarities are the result of satire, trend analysis and coincidence.

One of the most famous cases was the election of Donald Trump as president of the United States. In a 2000 episode, the series featured Lisa Simpson as president after Trump took office, implying that he had previously been in the White House. When Trump was actually elected in 2016, the episode immediately returned to the spotlight.

Another widely commented case was the Covid-19 pandemic. Although the series did not directly predict the coronavirus, a 1993 episode showed a virus spreading from Asia to the US, creating mass panic. After the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020, many internet users connected the episode to real events.

"The Simpsons" has also been noted for its similarities to technological developments that later became reality. Various episodes have featured devices resembling smartwatches, video calls, or virtual assistants many years before these technologies spread globally.

In sports and economics, the series has also produced controversial cases of “predictions.” A 1998 episode showed Germany beating Brazil in the World Cup, while another mentioned the Greek economic crisis years before it actually broke out.
