Greek authorities arrested six people, including a 28-year-old police officer. The case also includes 24 other suspects, including a Special Guard...

The Internal Affairs Service of the Security Forces in Greece has dismantled a criminal organization that was involved in drug trafficking in various areas of Attica, in a case that has attracted particular attention due to the involvement of security structure employees.

The police operation took place on June 10, 2026 in several areas of Attica and ended with the arrest of six members of the group, including a 28-year-old police officer. 24 other people, including a Special Guard, are also charged in the same case.

According to investigations, the organization had been operating since at least January 2026 and its main activity was the trafficking of narcotics, mainly cocaine, for the purpose of illegal financial gain.

The ringleader is suspected to be a 32-year-old nightclub worker in Attica. According to the investigation file, he used his public profile as a former professional athlete to distribute large quantities of narcotics during his daily activities.

According to the Greek Police (EL.AS.), the 28-year-old police officer had a supporting role in the organization, using personal connections to the main suspect. He is suspected of facilitating the group's activity by distributing small amounts of drugs or supplying them to close associates.

Greek Police spokeswoman Konstandia Dimoglidou told public broadcaster ERT that the investigation revealed the involvement of officers at various levels. She confirmed that at the center of the case are a police officer involved in drug trafficking and a former athlete who worked in nightclubs, while the investigation also revealed the involvement of a Special Guard, who is suspected of using narcotics for personal consumption, as well as another police officer in similar cases.

To avoid detection by authorities, group members used communication apps with coded words for narcotics, traveled in private, rented or taxi vehicles, and conducted transactions in nighttime environments with limited visibility.

Investigators have recorded coded expressions such as "line", "string" and other terms used during communications between members of the network.

During the investigation, it was also found that the 28-year-old police officer and a relative of his, a Greek Police officer, are suspected of being involved in other criminal offenses, including fraud, violation of official secrecy and taking bribes.

The Special Guard is accused of three counts of supplying narcotics for personal use.

Searches of homes and vehicles led to the seizure of quantities of cocaine and cannabis, more than 6,000 euros in cash, a precision electronic scale, drug paraphernalia, mobile phones and a motorcycle.

The arrested have been presented before the competent prosecution office, while the Internal Affairs Service's investigations continue to fully identify the structure of the organization and its possible connections.
