Eglant Koçi, missing since June 4, is suspected of being murdered and his body later buried. This is one of the main leads on which the investigation team is focusing its investigations.
The suspicions have been strengthened after the examination of the Porsche vehicle, seized as part of the investigation and used by Armand Shakaj, who is wanted as the suspected perpetrator of the incident. According to sources close to the investigation, several tools were found in the vehicle, including a shovel with clay residue, an element that has increased suspicions that the 34-year-old's body may have been buried.
The search for Koç has been ongoing for days. In a press conference, Tirana Police Director Oliger Torba announced that the searches are mainly focused on mountainous areas of the Tirana and Elbasan counties. Forces from Kosovo have also been involved in the search operations, assisting with trained sniffer dogs.
In parallel with the search for the body, the police are also continuing the operation to capture Armand Shakaj, who turns out to have been a close friend of Eglant Koçi.
According to investigators, the 34-year-old's body may have remained in Shakaj's vehicle for more than 24 hours. Then, under the pretext that the car had suffered a defect, a tow truck was requested to transport the vehicle to the Iba area. Investigators suspect that the tracks may have been lost from there, as the area is not monitored by security cameras.
Regarding the possible motive of the incident, the investigative team is verifying information related to a conflict between two friends over cryptocurrency activity and a significant amount of unpaid money.
According to the data collected so far, Armand Shakaj is suspected of being involved in lending money at interest. Investigators are verifying information that, with the mediation of Eglant Koçi, a sum of money may have been given to third parties and never returned. This situation is suspected to have led to a clash between them, while investigations are continuing to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident.
