Rutte's "pearls" in front of Russian reality!

Tomahawk to cover up failure: NATO's empty words in the face of the Russian threat

The statements of Mark Rutte, NATO Secretary General, are becoming a genre in itself, a mix between pathetic and diplomatic grotesque. After the infamous SMS messages sent to Trump, where NATO promised 5% of GDP for defense (3.5% for weapons and 1.5% for military infrastructure), Rutte has found time again for a new "ruttage" - this time in Brussels.

On the sidelines of the meeting of defense ministers, Rutte said that " Russian planes that violate NATO airspace should not always be shot down, but only when they pose a real danger ."

So far, it sounds logical. But then, he continues with his diplomatic “pearls”: “ If they don’t pose a threat, shooting them down would be a sign of weakness, because NATO is much stronger than Russia and we can force them out of our airspace .”

So, according to Rutte, we don't shoot down Russian planes not because we want to avoid World War III, but because... we don't want to look weak. Ironically, according to this logic, it is precisely the weak who shoot for no reason, to show that they are strong.

Meanwhile, to maintain this “moral and military superpower,” NATO countries must double their defense budgets, Italy for example will go from 2.5% to 5% of GDP. And for what? To build roads and bridges that can carry tanks to the front.

What is hidden behind this empty rhetoric?

All this orchestrated panic over the “Russian threat,” even though the Kremlin is engaged in a protracted and costly war, looks more like an excuse to revive Europe’s economy, badly hit by misguided policies since 2022. A political solution to the war in Ukraine has been on the table, but NATO and Brussels chose to push forward the idea of a Russian defeat “on the battlefield.”

Today, after more than three years, Ukraine has become a gray zone of pain and destruction, Russia is advancing north, and the West looks to hope for a "savior" Tomahawk.

If Russia is so weak, as Western propaganda says, with ignorant generals and a divided army, how is it possible that the Ukrainian army, trained according to NATO standards, supported by Western intelligence, armed from all sides and financed by the entire Western world, is retreating and suffering losses at Kursk and elsewhere?

The conclusion?

Mark Rutte, a technocrat elected to preserve “Euro-Atlantic unity,” is becoming a symbolic figure of NATO’s strategic blindness. With rhetoric that conceals the lack of a real vision for peace and stability in Europe, he and the elite he represents continue to pour gasoline on the fire, selling fear to justify an arms industry that produces no security, but only tension. / Adapted from “Inside Over”
