Saranda Police have identified the three suspected perpetrators of the rape and intimidation of Police officer Mihal Velço, an incident that occurred on Thursday evening in neighborhood no. 4 of the city.
According to police sources, Andrea Rubati, 27 years old, Antonio Lefteri, 30 years old, and Engjëll Dalanaj, 30 years old, all three with criminal records, are wanted.
The incident occurred around 11:00 PM, when Police Officer Mihal Velço, 32, on duty at the Saranda Police Station, notified the operations room that he had been attacked and threatened with a knife by three people riding motorcycles.
According to the Police, the officer had asked them to stop the dangerous maneuvers they were performing in the city, after he had been identified as a police officer. In these circumstances, the three suspects allegedly physically attacked him and threatened him with a knife, attempting to stab him. They then quickly fled the scene.
Thanks to investigative actions and analysis of video footage, the police have been able to identify the suspected perpetrators. Officer Velço has filed a criminal report with the Saranda General Jurisdiction Prosecutor's Office.
During the night and today, the Police services have conducted searches in the apartments of the three suspects, as well as in premises where it was suspected that they could be hiding, but were unable to locate them.
The three citizens have been declared wanted and are suspected of the criminal offenses of "Assault in the Line of Duty" and "Threat", while searches continue for their capture and full documentation of the incident.
