Donald Trump's social media company is considering charging investors and financial institutions up to $100,000 a month to provide faster access to the US president's posts on the Truth Social platform, according to a report by the Financial Times.
Citing sources familiar with the discussions, the newspaper said Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), the owner of Truth Social, is evaluating the commercialization of Trump's posts through a new licensed data service. Reuters was unable to independently verify the information, and the company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
On Thursday, TMTG officially launched Truth API, a subscription-based service for providing licensed data, intended for banks, investment firms and other financial markets professionals.
According to the company, the service offers "the fastest possible access" to posts from the ten most influential accounts on Truth Social, before they are distributed to users through the platform's standard notifications.
This is TMTG's first step into the data licensing market and aims to create a new source of revenue, at a time when the company is facing difficulties in expanding its activity due to strong competition from large social networks.
Trump's tweets affect financial markets
Donald Trump's posts on Social Truth have repeatedly influenced international financial markets, being considered a valuable resource for traders, investors, and financial institutions.
One such example was April 9, 2025, when the main Wall Street indexes recorded strong growth after Trump announced in a post the suspension for 90 days of part of the new customs tariffs he had previously warned.
Also, his posts regarding the so-called "Liberation Day" tariffs and trade restrictions against China have caused significant fluctuations in international markets.
The reaction to the action and Trump's participation
After the Financial Times report was published, Trump Media & Technology Group shares pared initial losses and were trading down about 0.4% in Friday trading. The stock has lost about 27% of its value since the start of the year.
According to documents filed with regulators, the Donald J. Trump Revocable Trust owns about 114.75 million shares, representing 41% of the equity of Truth Social's parent company. The trust is administered by the US president's children and is the primary vehicle through which Trump's stakes in the company are held.
