Member of the National Council of the Democratic Party, Ilirjana Kuçana, spoke about the resolution she proposed during the Council meeting and the clash with Berisha.
Kuçana announced that he has asked the National Council to make an official decision in support of the demands of the citizens present in the square, assessing that the situation in the country is not normal.
Among other things, she has made direct accusations against several members of the Democratic Party, emphasizing that a small group is holding the party hostage by supporting what she calls the 'mulization of the Democratic Party'. Kuçana emphasized that the time has come for meritocracy to return to the Democratic Party.
"After this, I asked to propose a resolution that has to do with the protest that is taking place. It is an extraordinary event. These are not normal days for Albania while the people are in the square."
And I have requested as the highest body of the Democratic Party, that the Assembly, the Democrats of all Albania, has given the attribute to the Assembly, the National Council, to make a decision and to come out in support of the five points. So we are not a party that makes public statements, but we are a party that is claimed to come to power tomorrow and we will have to come out with decisions.
We will have to restore legitimacy, we will have to show others that we, first and foremost, recognize the principles of democracy, and I have requested that a resolution be passed on this issue. The second point also included other details for the establishment of an intellectual front. I requested the creation of a broad student front, and the third point, which has also sparked much debate, was the demilitarization of the Democratic Party.
So, the demilitarization of the Democratic Party is about a group that holds the Democratic Party hostage. It is a small group that holds the Democratic Party hostage for their own interests, making decisions in the name of the Democratic Party and the Democrats.
The time has come for meritocracy to return to the Democratic Party. On the other hand, let me explain to you that I think the elimination of mulism and liberation from internal competition is very necessary in the Democratic Party.
"I also requested the cleaning of the list of members of the National Council and the measures against the responsible persons. We must say that the statute states 200 members of the National Council. Later it turned out that in the list they issued, the final one is 237 names. 37 names added to the list of the National Council," she told "Euronews Albania".
