Iranian missile and drone attacks have alarmed Gulf states, with Bahrain sounding emergency sirens. The Revolutionary Guards announced they had shot down a US MQ-9 drone, while Kuwait and Qatar condemned the strikes on civilian infrastructure.
Alarm sirens were activated across Bahrain as Iran continues missile and drone attacks on targets in the Gulf region.
Bahrain's Ministry of Interior called on citizens and residents to remain calm and seek refuge in the nearest safe places.
Meanwhile, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it had intercepted and destroyed a US MQ-9 Reaper drone over the city of Ahvaz, in Khuzestan province, near the border with Iraq. The MQ-9 drone is used by the US Air Force for reconnaissance, surveillance and air strikes.
The escalation comes after the US confirmed it had carried out its eighth consecutive night of strikes on Iranian targets. Earlier, Washington announced that two American soldiers were killed in Jordan and another was missing after an Iranian attack.
Kuwait has also been put on high alert. The Kuwaiti military announced that explosions heard over the country were related to the interception of missiles and drones by air defense systems, trying to calm the population.
In the past two days, international reactions have increased after strikes on power plants, water desalination plants and oil industry facilities in Kuwait, where large fires and injuries, including firefighters and civilians, have been recorded. Qatar stated that attacks on civilian infrastructure constitute "crossing all red lines."
On the other hand, Iran insists that its targets are only US military bases and assets in the region, denying that it is targeting civilian infrastructure.
