The White House has released the first details from the phone call between President Donald Trump and Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, saying the conversation between the two leaders was good and productive.
According to the White House, Trump and Putin have agreed to hold a US-Russia meeting next week at the senior level of advisers. It is further noted that this meeting could be followed by another face-to-face meeting between Trump and Putin, the second after the one held in Alaska.
Trump declared that 'great progress' was made in the phone call with Putin and says that a new meeting with the Russian leader has been proposed. Trump said that Putin congratulated him on the great achievement of peace in the Middle East, something that, he said, has been dreamed of for centuries.

The US president added that he and Putin agreed that a meeting of high-level advisers, led on the American side by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, would take place next week.
"President Putin and I will meet next at an agreed-upon location, in Budapest, Hungary, to see if we can end this 'inglorious' war between Russia and Ukraine," he said.
Trump added that he will discuss today's call with Putin and much more with Volodymyr Zelensky tomorrow. Among other things, Putin thanked his wife, Melania Trump, for her involvement with the children, saying that Putin was very grateful and said that this will continue.
Melania wrote a letter to Putin, which Trump delivered to the Russian in Alaska in August, raising concerns about missing Ukrainian children.
Trump also said the two leaders also talked about trade between the US and Russia when the war in Ukraine ends.
Trump's spokeswoman said that Putin and Zelensky could meet. Specifically, she stressed that the US president thinks it is still possible for Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to meet.
