Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that the war with Iran cannot be considered over without the removal of enriched uranium and the destruction of Iranian nuclear facilities.
In an interview with CBS News' "60 Minutes" broadcast on Sunday, Netanyahu said Israel had struck a significant portion of Iran's nuclear capabilities and its allied networks in the region, but stressed that the operations were not yet complete.
"Uranium must leave Iran," Netanyahu said, adding that highly enriched material must be completely removed from Iranian territory.
"You have to go in and take it out," he declared, referring to the possibility of neutralizing Iran's nuclear stockpiles.
According to the Israeli Prime Minister, a diplomatic agreement would be the best way to achieve this objective.
Asked about next steps if a deal with Tehran on its nuclear program is not reached, Netanyahu avoided giving specific details.
"It is an extremely important mission," he said, without specifying timelines or other possible measures.
Netanyahu's statements come at a time of high tensions in the Middle East, as diplomatic efforts for a ceasefire and negotiations over the Iranian nuclear program continue.
