After a long wait, Iran has responded to the US peace proposal to reach a peace agreement between the parties.
Immediately after the response was submitted, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian shared a short statement on social media, referring specifically to the letter sent to Washington.
He declared that Iran will never surrender, but added that entering into negotiations or dialogue does not mean admitting defeat.
"We will never bow our heads to the enemy, and if the talk of dialogue or negotiations arises, it does not mean surrender or withdrawal. On the contrary, the goal is to protect the rights of the Iranian nation and defend national interests with resolute force," Pezeshkian said.
State media IRNA reported that at this stage, the negotiations will focus on ending the war. There are no further details yet on what Iran's response actually is.
Recall that the US plan would officially end the war before talks began on more controversial issues, such as Iran's nuclear program.
