The British Armed Forces have organized a special operation on the island of Tristan da Cunha, in the South Atlantic, after reports of a British patient with symptoms similar to hantavirus.

The mission involved six paratroopers, an RAF advisor and a military nurse. The team parachuted from a military aircraft to reach the island and provide medical assistance.

Photos published online show the moment military personnel leave the plane during the air operation.

According to British authorities, the team transported medical equipment, oxygen and auxiliary materials for the patient's treatment.

The operation was carried out by an RAF A400M aircraft that took off from RAF Brize Norton and stopped at Ascension Island. An RAF Voyager supply aircraft also participated in the mission.

Tristan da Cunha is considered one of the most isolated inhabited communities in the world, which significantly complicates emergency interventions and medical transport.
