Kremlin has not rejected US plan for Ukraine, Peskov: Discussions continue

Reports that Vladimir Putin has rejected the U.S. peace plan for Ukraine are incorrect, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday. Speaking to reporters in Moscow, he said the claim that the Russian president rejected the U.S. proposal was not true.

"It's not right to say something like that," Peskov said.

Responding to a question, he said that "it would not be correct to say that," adding that the discussion about the US peace plan is ongoing.

At the same time, Russia is trying to shape its own framework for the course of negotiations, according to what is coming from Moscow.

Earlier, Russian presidential adviser Yuri Ushakov stated that no compromise peace plan for Ukraine has been widely accepted. As he explained, some American proposals seem to be moving in an acceptable direction, "but they need discussion." However, as he claimed, some of the wording presented by Washington remains "unacceptable" for the Russian side.

According to Russian sources, further negotiations are required to draft a plan that can be considered acceptable to both sides.

Zelensky announced in a statement on social media, his first reaction after the end of the US-Russia negotiations, that Rustem Umerov, the head of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, and the Chief of the General Staff of Ukraine, Andriy Khnatov, would prepare to hold a meeting with Donald Trump's representatives in the US.

Volodymyr Zelensky added that Ukrainian officials will brief European representatives today on information they received from the United States regarding the talks in Moscow. Ukraine and its European allies are also expected to discuss "the European element in the necessary security architecture."
