Recently released documents from the Pentagon and the FBI describe a series of observations of luminous spheres in the northeastern United States during the period from October 2024 to July 2025. The materials were made public as part of the PURSUE program, a Trump administration initiative to declassify files related to unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP).
One of the most unusual cases was reported in October 2024, when a witness observed a luminous object hovering over a lake. According to documents, the object changed shape and intensity of light, while at times it seemed to split into smaller luminous points. A second object was seen above the surface of the water. The phenomenon remained almost motionless for about 45 minutes before disappearing. The video recorded with an iPhone was analyzed by American authorities, who confirmed its authenticity, while the FBI considered the witness to be very credible.
Another incident occurred in July 2025, when two people reported seeing a red sphere about a meter in diameter, which contained a very bright white mass in the center, described as a "plasma sun." According to witnesses, a second identical sphere later appeared. The two objects moved together over trees, changed height and direction, merged into a single object, and then disappeared. The FBI provided photographs and video of the event, while similar reports were recorded in the same area.
The documents also include a 2023 incident near a sensitive national security facility in the western United States. Six federal agents reported seeing large orange spheres that emitted smaller red objects into the night sky. Investigators described these as "mother spheres," from which other objects appeared to detach.
In a new assessment, the All-Around Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), which operates under the US Department of Defense, said that about 40 percent of reported activity remains unexplained. Analysts compared the evidence with radar data, flight logs and ADS-B signals, examining the possibility that the phenomena are related to military aircraft, drones or environmental factors.
According to their conclusions, a significant proportion of cases can be explained by the use of military flares, while hostile alien technology is considered highly unlikely. However, authorities acknowledge that no single explanation covers all reported cases. For this reason, "unidentified technology" remains a temporary hypothesis for incidents that continue to lack a clear explanation.
Another unusual case dates back to February 2022 near Colorado Springs, where five US military personnel reported seeing a large, brightly colored object hovering over Cheyenne Mountain. According to descriptions, the object was irregularly shaped and appeared to consist of panels that slowly changed configuration. AARO estimated that the phenomenon could have been the result of sunlight reflecting off snow and clouds, but described this explanation as having low credibility.
Despite the release of these files, neither the Pentagon nor AARO have concluded that any of the incidents constitute evidence of extraterrestrial life or technology. Officials emphasize that an unsolved case simply means there is not enough data to determine with certainty the cause of the phenomenon.
