US President Donald Trump stated that he believes he is Iran's main target.
During a press conference where he was asked whether the conflict with Tehran was turning into a strategic dead end, rather than dwell on the question, Trump defended his administration's actions toward Iran. He called it a "tremendous success" and claimed that Iranian nuclear material is buried underground.
The US president also said that the Iranian leadership has undergone constant changes and suggested that he himself could be targeted.
"Iran had leaders. They're gone. And they had another group of leaders. Now they're gone. They have another group of leaders. They could be gone, who knows? And you know what? I could be gone too, because I'm their number one target... I'm their number one because they're scum. That's what they do and that's what they've done for 47 years. But I'm doing what's right for the country," Trump said.
The US president stressed that he believes his actions are in the interest not only of the United States, but also of the international community. "I am doing what is right for the world," he said.
Following the statement, he reiterated his belief that he is Iran's top target. "I am number one on Iran's kill list," Trump added.
