Tirana Fire Chief Arben Cara, in a media statement, spoke about the fire that engulfed a residential complex near the University Hospital.
He emphasized that after the notification, firefighters from Tirana, two helicopters, and emergency response forces were deployed. He also stated that the fire engulfed the entire complex.
"Tirana is fully engaged with all capacities. As soon as we received the notification of a fire in this complex, we immediately engaged and worked intensively to localize the flames. We can say that the fire has engulfed the entire complex ," he said.
Fire Chief: We have engaged all the capacities we have to make it possible to localize the flames. It is still too early to say that the fire has been extinguished, as work is being done in all directions to localize the fire sources inside the apartments. We have made it possible to localize the fire so that it does not spread to the surrounding towers. At 16:52, from the police station, we received a report of a fire in this complex and then I communicated with the Director General of the State Police, the Director of Civil Emergencies, the Minister of Interior and we made it possible to engage the forces that are already working intensively to localize the fires.
We cannot talk about how many apartments were burned down, as an assessment will be made later, but we can say that the fire has engulfed the entire northeast part of the building, from the first floor to the top floor, everything is involved.
