The protest against the investment project in Zvërnec has moved this Monday to Tirana, where hundreds of citizens and activists have gathered in front of the Ministry of Interior to express their opposition to the planned developments in the area.
During the protest, some of the participants surrounded the Ministry of Interior building with barbed wire, in a symbolic act that, according to them, aims to denounce the way in which citizen objections to the project are being handled.
Protesters held banners and chanted against construction in Zvërnec, demanding the suspension of investment procedures until the full impact it may have on the environment and the local community is fully clarified.
After gathering in front of the Ministry of Interior, the protesters have announced the continuation of the march towards the Prime Minister's Office, where they are expected to present their demands to central institutions.
The debate over the Zvërnec project has sparked strong reactions in recent days, including from political representatives, environmental activists and local residents, who remain divided on the impact and benefits of the proposed investment.
