The director of the QSUT, Anxhela Paparizo, is dismissed from her post, replaced by Rudina Degjoni
Less than a year later, the Minister of Health, Evis Sala, has dismissed the director of the QSUT, Anxhela Paparizo. In her place, Rudina Degjoni, who most recently held the position of director of the Fier Memorial Hospital, has been appointed.
Through an announcement, QSUT announced that Degjoni was introduced today to the staff as the new director of the largest university hospital in the country.
According to the institution, she comes to this position with extensive experience in the field of hospital management and administration, as well as experience in the administration of health services.
Her appointment marks a rotation in the leadership of the QSUT, while so far no official details have been provided on the reasons for the departure of her predecessor, Anxhela Paparizo.
"The University Hospital Center "Mother Teresa" hosted today the new Director of the institution, Ms. Rudina Degjoni. Ms. Degjoni comes to the head of the QSUT after a long experience in hospital direction and management, bringing with her a valuable contribution to the administration and development of health services. This appointment comes after the release from duty of the General Director Ms. Anxhela Paparizo." - the QSUT announcement states.
Although a former admirer of Edi Rama, at the time when he headed the Municipality of Tirana, who came from Canada to make a career, despite having no connection, neither with healthcare nor with the only University Hospital Center in the country, QSUT, Anxhela Paparizo, could not close the year. Her departure has even been rumored several times. Just 2 weeks after being appointed, she submitted her resignation, but was rejected by Evis Sala.
Before her, the former director Florenc Spaho was dismissed just two months after taking office. A former MP and doctor by profession, Florenc, with a relatively good reputation, was arrogantly dismissed by the new minister. The reason: he had no intention of signing the files that Koçiu had left to the fish and that Sala had stepped in to guarantee to close. Before Spaho, another doctor, Donjeta Bali, did not last more than 2 months at the helm of the QSUT. Unlike Florenc, Donjeta resigned after a serious argument with the minister, which escalated to insulting the doctor. Before Bali, Alma Cani also did not have a career, neither glorious nor long-lasting, in that institution. She left without honor and with the fear that perhaps someone had slipped her some paperwork for her to sign, without her mind.
Let's see how long Rudina Degjoni will last, as she comes from a hospital where scandals have never ended. Only the Albanian Supreme Audit Office has discovered violations in that hospital several times.
Even in 2023, Degjoni was investigated and sent for trial by the Fier Prosecutor's Office, after being accused of the criminal offense of "Abuse of office", provided for by Article 248 of the Penal Code.
From the investigations, the prosecution stated that it has proven that the defendant, in violation of the legal and sub-legal acts in force and in the absence of approval from the Ministry of Health, has allowed the illegal performance of the stomach botox procedure on patients in this public hospital, through the application in the internal organization of patients, of stomach botox medical preparations that were not purchased by the hospital itself through legal public prosecution procedures, but were found on the streets outside the hospital for which the patients had made their payments. Let's see what this will bring to the leadership of the QSUT.
