The five arrested for the murder of Polish professor Przemek Jeziorski, in Agia Paraskevi, have been questioned by the Prosecution, and are expected to appear in court on Monday, July 21, where they will be briefed on security measures.
The accused are the victim's 43-year-old ex-wife, her partner, a 35-year-old man, two Albanian citizens and a Bulgarian citizen.
Criminal charges were filed against them. The alleged perpetrator faces charges of intentional homicide while in a state of mental insanity, illegal possession of a weapon and use of a weapon. The victim's ex-wife was charged with incitement to murder, while the other three are charged with complicity in murder.
The victim's ex-wife has denied the allegations, while the other arrested people confessed and described to the police the role each of them had, however, authorities have evidence that incriminates her and statements from others that mention her role as the financier of the plan.
The ex-wife of the 43-year-old professor, who is suspected of being the mastermind of the crime, her current partner, who is the perpetrator, and their three foreign accomplices, will appear before the 2nd Juvenile Investigation Division on Monday morning to give their statements, as one of the accomplices is a 16-year-old, originally from Albania, who, together with his compatriot, 21 years old, is suspected of having transported the perpetrator to the scene.
On the afternoon of July 4, Polish professor Przemek Jeziorski was shot with 3 bullets on Irinis Street, in Agia Paraskevi.
The victim was shot in the chest and neck. According to authorities, he had no identification with him, and a switched-off cell phone was found next to him.
The perpetrator was masked. According to witnesses, he had covered his face with a black mask and was wearing black clothing. He approached the 43-year-old man from close range and shot him in cold blood, before fleeing on foot.
After the murder, the perpetrator walked along Irini Street at a fast pace and then turned towards Giavasi Street, heading towards Agia Paraskevi Square.
About a year ago, the victim allegedly filed a lawsuit against his ex-wife's partner for beating and threatening her.
However, according to authorities, the murder plot appears to have come to light after a court ruling that the professor's ex-wife lost. According to the ruling, the professor was given the opportunity to take the two children he had with his ex-wife out of the country.
They were also separated by a disagreement over financial differences they had from two companies they had founded together in America when they were a couple.
The detail that revealed the scheme
From the cell phone that the 43-year-old woman handed over to authorities on the day of the murder, police managed to find a photo which, as they say, is the key to the case.
Specifically, the photo shows the victim at the scene of the murder. According to police, she sent it to her partner to continue with the murder plan.
Meanwhile, the family of Polish professor Przemek Jeziorski remains in shock. The revelation that people close to him are behind the murder makes the reality even more painful for relatives and friends, who are following the developments with shock.
A close friend of the victim, speaking in an interview with the FOX network, burst into tears and said she could not believe that the Polish professor's ex-partner had organized such a cruel act.
