Lawyer Arben Llangozi has made strong accusations against the Special Prosecution Office regarding the investigations into the file known as "Aruba", claiming that SPAK has not reached the political leaders of the case.
Invited to the podcast "Të Pashoj" on Pamfleti, Llangozi said that SPAK itself has admitted the existence of people connected to the government in the file, but, according to him, the names have not been made public.
" I'm not saying that it was the Albanian government in Aruba or people connected to the government, SPAK itself says so. And when it comes down to it, the names have been hidden. So, is this prosecution obliged to make the names public? Of course it is. Was this prosecution obliged to request arrest measures, as were requested for the members of this criminal group? Of course. But why didn't it do it? ", said Llangozi.
Further, the lawyer raised allegations about the reasons why, according to him, SPAK has not taken further steps in this matter.
" He didn't do it because there are two reasons. The first is that SPAK is playing the last card, asking the prime minister for an extension of his mandate in exchange for favoring this affair. The second is that the prosecutors are directly commanded by Prime Minister Edi Rama. I think it's the first. So, they are making a slanderous bargain with justice ," he declared.
Llangozi added that, according to his interpretation, people who participated in meetings abroad cannot be considered simply as people aware of the events.
" We cannot claim to remove some MPs or people connected to the government who have participated in this criminal organization, because they are participants. Leaving Albania, going to Aruba, discussing how you will be financed in Albania and creating facilities for it, this is participation. It is not knowledge. It is participation in a structured criminal group ," said Llangozi.
