Journalist Klodiana Lala has provided details regarding SPAK's request for authorization of the arrest of Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku and the meeting of the Mandates and Immunity Council, which will take place on Friday.
According to Lala, if the Assembly decides to lift Balluku's immunity, the decision on the security measure, prison arrest or house arrest, will be up to the court. She announced that the meeting of the Mandates and Immunity Council is expected to be long, as it consists of 10 members and Balluku, accompanied by her lawyers, has the right to present her defense. Balluku is expected to be present at the session, while SPAK has requested that the meeting be held behind closed doors.
The purpose of this procedure is to hear the MP for whom the arrest authorization is requested, as she currently enjoys parliamentary immunity. Each member of the Council is expected to ask questions to Balluk, which makes the session last for several hours.
According to her, not only prosecutor Dritan Prençi, who is following the Balluk case, will be present at the meeting, but the current head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, has signed a decision according to which at least three prosecutors will be present at the commission, due to the large volume of the file and the particular importance of the case.
During an interview with "News 24 ", Lala also emphasized that so far the members of the Mandates and Immunity Council have not yet received SPAK's materials for the Balluk file.
These are expert reports on seized mobile phones, as well as materials related to several devices recently confiscated from Balluk's subordinates and people considered to be her confidants. Communications between them have led to further checks, while the new data has been attached to the file as materials that assist the investigation.
