The President of the Republic has today signed the decree dismissing Ambassador Ilir Gjoni, Albania's representative to NATO.
The decision was taken in support of Article 92, letter “dh” and Article 93 of the Constitution, as well as Article 26, point 2 of Law No. 23/2015 “On the Foreign Service of the Republic of Albania”.
The decree was made upon the proposal of the Prime Minister and entered into force immediately. In its content, Article 1 clearly states that “Mr. Ilir Gjoni is relieved of the duty of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Albania to NATO, resident.”
Ilir Gjoni was appointed ambassador by Begaj in 2023 and for reasons that are not yet official, he has also decreed his release from duty today. He has had another 1 year term, while the successor is unknown.
