Drita has started the adventure in the new edition of the Champions League with a positive result. The Kosovo champion drew 1-1 away against the Lithuanian champion, Kauno Zalgiris, in the first match of the first qualifying round.
The team led by Zekirija Ramadani appeared on the field with the following lineup: Faton Maloku, Redi Ovouka, Pëllumbi, Bytyçi, Besnik Krasniqi, Dabiqaj, Limaj, Sheji, Abazaj, Blerim Krasniqi and Jashari.
The home team took the lead in the 24th minute, when after a corner kick, Rokas Lekiatas headed in Amin Benshaib, who scored with a powerful right-footed shot. The first half ended with Kauno Zalgiris leading 1-0.
In the second half, Drita increased the pressure and was rewarded in the 82nd minute. Redi Ovouka crossed into the area, while Blerim Krasniqi headed the ball accurately, beating the home goalkeeper and sealing the final score at 1-1.
This draw gives Drita a significant advantage for the return match, which will take place in a week at the "Fadil Vokrri" stadium, where the Kosovo champions will aim to qualify for the second round.
If they manage to eliminate Kauno Zalgiris, Drita will face the winner of the KI Klaksvik – FC Atert Bisen match in the second qualifying round.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday it is the turn of the Albanian champion, Egnatia, who will play away against the Moldovan champion, Petrocub, in the first match of the first qualifying round of the Champions League.
