The protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office continued this evening with speeches by activists and citizens. Among the speakers was environmentalist Sazan Guri, who called for the continuation of the protest and, according to him, called for a new phase of civic resistance.
In his speech, Guri said that what matters is not the number of participants, but the determination to see the protest through to the end.
"This country that has arrived on this day, where there is only one ship in front of us, will either leave, this one who does not even deserve to be called by name, or us! We Albanian citizens who do not want to worry that we are apparently 2, 3, 5 or 10% of the people," he said.
He urged protesters not to give up on the cause and used a historical comparison to describe the determination that, in his opinion, should characterize the movement.
"There is no government that does not fall, but there are citizens who withdraw. There are no causes that are not won, but there are citizens who abandon the cause halfway. Let each person give their word when they come to this square, just like the generals who burned the ships. Let us kiss the children and women and in this long war of resistance, we will defeat them slowly, with morality," Guri added.
Guri also criticized policies related to property and strategic investments, accusing the government of violating property rights.
"We will make them undress, they will not have eyes or face to appear before the Albanian people, especially a prime minister who has undone legal properties by the constitution and in 2015 with a strategic investment law he decided to steal from this people. Are we coming out to protect only flamingos? More than that!", he continued.
At the end of his speech, the environmentalist proposed what he described as the third phase of the protest, calling for the physical siege of institutions.
"We have surrounded this prime minister democratically and morally. The third siege for me is the physical siege! The parliament and the prime minister should be surrounded so that they do not make decisions on our causes!", said Sazan Guri.
