The new Ombudsman, Endrit Shabani, officially took office today, just one day after being sworn in before the Albanian Parliament. With this step, he officially begins his constitutional mandate at the head of the institution whose mission is to protect the rights and freedoms of citizens.
His presentation to the administration and staff of the institution was carried out by the Secretary General of the Assembly, Genci Gjonçaj, in accordance with constitutional procedures and in respect of institutional continuity.
The Ombudsman Institution publicly praised the contribution of her predecessor, Erinda Ballanca, who remained in office for 8 years and continued to exercise her function even beyond the constitutional term. During this period, Ballanca ensured stability and actively defended the rights of citizens, even in a difficult political and social context.
