After clashing with Italy's Giorgia Meloni, the US president has launched an attack on Britain.
US President Donald Trump has declared that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer "will resign", at a time when British media are widely reporting on the possibility of his removal from office.
In a post on the Truth Social platform, Trump wrote that " Keir Starmer will resign as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom," without providing additional details or sources supporting this claim.
According to the British PA agency, Trump has not held talks with Starmer since their meeting at the G7 summit, held earlier in the week.
In his post, the American president criticized the British prime minister's policies, describing immigration and energy as the two areas where, according to him, Starmer has failed.
"He failed miserably on two very important issues, immigration and energy," Trump wrote, repeating his call for expanding the exploitation of oil and gas resources in the North Sea.
Meanwhile, a Downing Street spokesman referred to Starmer's latest statement, who on Friday said he remains focused on his duties as prime minister.
"There is still a lot of work to be done and that is what I am focused on. That is what I was elected for, to serve my country," Starmer declared.
On the other hand, the British Business Secretary, Peter Kyle, told the BBC that Starmer is reflecting on the "political realities" of the moment and will act in what he considers to be the best interests of the country.
Speculation about Starmer's political future has increased in recent days, with British media reporting that he could announce his decision as early as Monday.
