Analyst Ergys Mërtiri has commented on the latest political events in the country. Regarding the decisions taken today by the DP Presidency, Mërtiri stated that everything is being done to hide the real crisis the DP is facing.
"The DP is in deep crisis, more than a fight for elections, it is a fight to hide the crisis and to cover up critical voices. Berisha should have left morally and politically. He only promised and stipulated in the Statute that whoever loses the elections must leave. When this was sanctioned in the Statute, it was not foreseen that this would lose its power in the event that the elections were lost or stolen ," he told "News24".
The analyst added that the DP has turned into a totalitarian party where no one stands against the leader, supported by the fact that in the analysis expected to be held for the May 11 elections, the leader of the DP, Berisha, is 'not affected'.
"They promise an analysis but the analysis does not affect the leader, this shows that this is a totalitarian party where no one raises their voice. In their forums there is no voice that says Berisha is to blame ," he said.
Regarding the announced protests, the analyst stated that they actually harm the opposition, and do not at all aggravate the position of the majority.
"In 4 years we have seen the dead end that the opposition has entered. Weak protests and civil disobedience only damage the image of the opposition. Even now that they are going to repeat what they have done, they are doing it because they are in an internal crisis and need to survive it ," said Mërtiri.
He also focused on the McGonigal case, where he said that under other conditions, where Berisha would not have been at the head of the opposition as a person who, according to him, is undesirable by the international community, it would have led to a different result in the elections.
